We’ve Been Recognised...

The School Breakfast Club has received a special Merit Award from the Department of Education for its years of service at Dorrigo Primary School.

Each year the Club, staffed by “mature age” members of the Parish, prepare and serve more than 2,000 meals to students who arrive at school without breakfast or just very hungry. (See picture below).

They’ve been doing this for more than five years AND financing it themselves, with the support of local businesses.

The award was initiated by School Principal, Ms Cheryl Banks and received by club foundation members Nora and Graeme Banks during a special ceremony at Coffs Harbour.

Well done Breakie Club!

And the Choir is Grooooowing

Our church choir, under the direction of Christine Brayne, is spreading its musical wings.

Beyond its normal contribution to major worship events such as Easter and Pentecost the choir has taken its talent well beyond the church doors.

Community members and singers from other churches have joined the choir in its second persona – that of a Community Chorale.

During Made in Dorrigo Day the chorale set up on the sidewalk and entertained passers-by for nearly an hour.... and got a great reception.

If you would like to be part of either or both groups please make yourself known to Christine.

How Brave Are YOU??

With school holidays approaching four major Ichthus Camps are in preparation.

These week-long camps will target senior primary and junior secondary students. “Mirror” camps will be held at Lennox Head in the north of the Diocese and Scott’s Head in the south.

They are expected to attract more than 150 campers and involve at least 100 leaders.

Anne Goode from Dorrigo Parish has directed South Junior Ichthus for more than a dozen years and is completing her plans for the first week in the September school holidays.

Anne is seeking additional leaders. She’s looking for people who mix well with younger adolescents and who are interested in leading small groups, helping in the kitchen or just being general hands for part or all of the week.
