Our new rector for the Parish of The Dorrigo IS: (drum roll, please) The Rev. Michael and Steph Ridge.
Not familiar with their names? Hardly surprising... they are coming all the way from Mersyside in the United Kingdom.
From Blundellsands which is a little north of Liverpool. (Check out Blundellsands on the Net.)
Our Parish nominators, Anne and Graham, say they are stoked with Mike and Steph's acceptance of Dorrigo Parish.
The Ridge family spent a day with Anne and Graham and Diocesan representatives last month and now have an overview of our area and Parish.
We asked Mike and Steph for a little background on their lives and this is what they sent:
"Rev Mike Ridge and family are delighted to be coming to Dorrigo to be Rector and to partner with you in building God's kingdom. Mike was ordained in 2009 and has served Curacies in the diocese of Liverpool at St Luke Formby and now St Michael Blundellsands where he is currently running the interregnum. Prior to that he was A Geography teacher for 14 years in Lancashire and a Local Government Councillor in his home village of Ainsdale for four years.
He has been married to Stephanie for 13 years and they have three children:- Emma 22; Sophie 11 and Ben 10. Emma is remaining in the UK to work but Sophie and Ben are very much looking forward to coming to Dorrigo and settling into the rectory and new schools. Stephanie is a nurse by profession and a licensed (Lay) Reader with Mike at St Michaels Church.
We hope that you will pray for us particularly as we apply for our visas and as our house goes up for sale and we prepare to leave the UK and say goodbye to family and friends. We look forward, with you, to an exciting 2014! With our love and blessings in Christ."
Please uphold the Ridge family in your prayers and look forward, with joy, to meeting them in January.
